Complementing the food palette is an expertly crafted beverage program. Blackbarn’s cocktail menu features creative takes on classic favorites, such as the smoky, alluring Mezcal Old Fashioned tinted with Aztec chocolate bitters, or the crisp and citrusy Tom Collins. The wine selection shines with an impressive array of Tempranillo from Rioja, Spain—including elegant options spanning from young Crianza to mature Gran Reserva vintages, allowing guests to find the perfect pairing for their meal.

Whether seated in the cozy main dining room, the stylish lounge area, or the private upstairs loft, diners enjoy a sense of intimacy enhanced by warm lighting and rustic décor that evokes the comfort of a country barn nestled in the city.
There is a genuine feeling of care and craftsmanship in every dish served—though some diners note minor inconsistencies, such as seasoning or texture with specific items like the chicken and waffles or apple cider doughnuts. However, the overall sentiment is one of satisfaction and eagerness to return, drawn by Blackbarn’s sophisticated blend of classic American comfort with modern culinary artistry.
In essence, Blackbarn stands out as a distinctive New York culinary destination where timeless flavors meet a relaxed yet polished setting. Whether you’re seeking a hearty brunch with friends, an evocative evening of craft cocktails and steaks, or a venue for a memorable event, Blackbarn offers an experience that is thoughtfully curated, approachable, and rich with character.
Everything we tried was delicious—our favorites were the loaded potatoes, shishito peppers, and short rib eggs. Giving it 4 stars only because the apple cider donuts didn’t taste fresh and the Milanese sandwich could’ve used a bit more seasoning. Still, the overall vibe and food were great—would definitely come again!
Nice ambiance, but felt more curated for larger groups. Maybe we were sat in the wrong area. Nice wine lists, gnocchi was fantastic, steak was cooked well with nice flavor, but the chicken was very bad and too crispy for my liking. It’s a good place to bring your parents or colleagues, but not so sure on date night.
I attended a work luncheon in Blackbarn’s upstairs private room. I believe it’s called the loft. The food was fantastic, the service was great, and I can’t wait to go back and eat from the full menu. We had several dishes, but I didn’t get pics. They were all excellent. Starters: - Grilled Corn & Kale Salad - Tuna Tartare - Black Mission Fig Pizza Mains: - Zucchini & Basil Risotto - Grilled Branzino Filet - Chicken Saltimbocca Dessert: - Apple Cider Doughnuts - Citrus Cheesecake - Chocolate Mousse Cake One thing, but it may be just me, I’m always cold these day, and I was perfect wearing a wool blazer, so you may want to bring a layer if you get cold in the AC. Go enjoy and share your experience!
Went there for an office party and had an excellent time. Barn setup with ambience was welcoming. Great service. Food we tried all came out good. Outside seating was also available. Definitely a good high end place to dine if you are around Park / Madison Ave.
Fantastic brunch and ambiance! The burger is a hit, as well as the egg white frittata and the steak sandwich. The potatoes and fries were both good. I didn’t care for the chicken and waffles (chicken was not crispy and more like kids tenders), and the tuna tartare was not ground up enough - good combination of flavors but just wouldn’t order it again. Would love to come back here.
Absolutely incredible restaurant! I came here for the first time with my sister and cousin for brunch, and we were extremely pleased with everything! Our waiter, Serkan, went above and beyond to make sure we had a special time. He was so personable, professional, and attentive! I got the farmer’s omelet which came with home fries- it was delicious! I can’t wait to come back and try more of the amazing food selections on the menu. So thankful we found this gem!
Last night was a perfect evening starting with the warmest welcome received from the host. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and full of personality making helpful recommendations. To start we enjoyed delicious apps—Gruyere Cheese Souffle, Heritage Pork Belly Chicharrones and yummy Vegetable Samosas! Every dish was beautifully prepared and artfully presented like the Amish Chicken and the Crispy Layered Potatoes. Of course, dessert is always a must and did not disappoint—the Summer Peach Crumble and Chocolate Carmel Pudding were both an incredible ending to a perfect culinary experience. Blackbarn is celebrating their 10 year anniversary this year and throughout each year I have had the pleasure of bringing my friends, family and clients to experience the ambiance and flavor. Thank you for another special evening at Blackbarn! Looking forward to the next time.
The place is huge and has a modern feel. We were here for brunch on a Saturday and it was pretty empty. The short rib hash and egg was outstanding, though I thought the potato could have been crispier. The fresh juice was just ok. The service was great, very attentive.
